Functional Equivalents¶
This page lists the components of the Helium Canandmag that have COTS functional equivalents. These items have been selected as parts that can be easily sourced in the United States, international availability may differ.
Tip
If replacement parts are needed, contact us at frc@reduxrobotics.com. We will be happy to work with you to provide replacement parts or sourcing options if needed.
#3-48 Countersunk Mounting Screws¶
The mounting screws provided with the Helium Canandmag are 3-48 countersunk screws, 0.5 inch length.
These screws from McMaster Carr are identical to the mounting screws used in the Helium CanandmagM2.5 Plastic Tapping Case Screw¶
The case screw provided with the Helium Canandmag is an M2.5x8mm plastic tapping screw.
These screws from McMaster Carr are identical to the case screw used in the Helium Canandmag0.25in x 0.5in Diametric Magnet¶
Danger
Make sure the magnet used is a DIAMETRIC magnet. Radial magnets will not work with the Helium Canandmag.
While the Helium Canandmag will function with any diametric magnet with a reasonable field strength (300-900 guass at the surface of the encoder), the magnet that ships with the encoder is natively compatible with many common FRC applications, such as use in swerve drives. It is a 0.25 inch diameter by 0.5 inch length diametric magnet.
The magnets can be sourced from magnets4less, which is identical to the magnet included with the Helium CanandmagThe Thrifty Bot sells diametric magnets that are functionally identical to the magnets included with the Helium Canandmag
1.27mm Pitch 10 Pin IDC Cable¶
The cable that ships with the Helium Canandmag is a 1.27mm pitch 10 pin IDC (2x5) cable, 20 inch length.
This cable from Adafruit will function, but is a shorter length then the stock 20 inch cableThe Adafruit cable is also available from Digikey here
In addition, cables could be crimpled by the team. The cable connectors are 1.27mm pitch 10 pin IDC connectors, which can generally be sourced from electronics companies like Digikey and Mouser. The cable is 30 AWG and can similarly be sourced from common electronics companies.
